*   BIOGRAPHY,

Born to Giuseppe & Lillian Salvatore on the land that is to become Mystic Falls,VA in the year 1839. The firstborn and eldest son, Damon Salvatore grew up to be a wondrous child. Having a high creativity and a deep love for the outdoors, he spent most of his young years playing pretend and exploring the woods that surrounded his home. That was until when Stefan Salvatore, his younger and only brother was born. The two grew up to be extremely close, doing almost everything together. However, the chemistry of Damon changed when his father became physically and emotionally abusive at the young age of 12. His father began to burn cigarettes on him along with telling him that he was the lesser Salvatore. Seeing how Giuseppe would treat his mom only worsened Damon mentally, beginning to experiment the emotions of hate and disgust at high volumes. An ignited flame of darkness began for young Damon, only for the story to worsen.By the age of 17, Damon lost his mother to consumption. The loss took a huge chunk of goodness that Damon had left and he found himself accepting alcohol as his only friend. Of course, Damon continued to support his younger brother by making sure he enjoyed his childhood by being there for him and being the safe space left in the home. The years only continued and Damon was now a young man ready to be sent off to fight for the Confederate Army on his father’s request. Damon found it to be a sign of hope, a sign of a possibility to gain his father’s approval. Which, Damon did as he was told disregarding his personal beliefs on the south and what they stood for. It was only when he returned from the war, barely making it out alive, his father didn’t find his doings impressive. This shattered Damon’s only hope and the flame inside him grew. However, it changed when he met Katherine Pierce. A beautiful woman he fell in love with. The stakes only raised when he found out she was in love with his brother, Stefan. Creating brighter flame of darkness. But, he was competitive by nature. So, he remained in the game of winning the love of Katherine. Although, when Damon found out of her immortality, the love he had for her transformed to desire. A desire to become immortal. He continued his competitive ways in a conquest to win Katherine and have her change him and kill her for not seeing him, only seeing Stefan. The darkness inside him only grew and grew and soon he learned that he came in second place. A jealousy for his brother, seeing how their father abused Damon the most and how Katherine preferred Stefan.On the night Stefan found out about Katherine, Damon convinced his brother not to say a word to their father as he was part of the Coucil, a group who knew of the vampires and wanted to end them as they were seen as disgusting creatures. Damon wanted to keep the secret for his personal benefit — becoming a vampire. However, when word got out, Katherine and the other vampires were rounded up to go to the Fells Church and be destroyed. Quickly enough, Damon and Stefan went to try to help Katherine but their lives were cut short when their father shot and killed them for choosing immortals. Little did Giuseppe know, both brothers had Katherine’s blood in their systems. Unknowing to Damon, once he woke up, he realized what had happened. However, waking up from the short-term death didn’t sit well with him. He was confused and disoriented. When Stefan returned from visiting their father, he fed him blood, finishing the transformation.Once Damon became immortal, that fire he had all those human years, only overtook him. Overwhelmed with that darkness, when Emily Bennett mentioned Katherine’s whereabouts, He had concluded it to be a chance to get her out that tomb and kill her, the way he had planned originally. Keeping the secret from his brother, he promised Stefan an eternity of misery due to the overgrown anger he had withheld all those years. Afterwards, disappearing.Damon spent his years traveling and creating a name for himself as a serial killer. However, that case remained unsolved as he enjoyed leaving bodies scattered publicly with zero leads. He carried a hedonistic and a sadistic life, going after innocent people for enjoyment. Damon only did try to reconcile his relationship with Stefan in the year 1994. However, his brother didn’t find an interest in taking a road trip with him. Damon found the doing to be the last time anyone would ever not choose him. Damon turned off the little humanity he had in him & For retaliation, he killed Gail, his nephew’s wife. Afterwards, Damon fell deeper into his darkness, he was too far gone to a point of no saving. Although, can he be saved?

In the AU, Damon only had one wish when he met Katherine. become a vampire. Upon learning Katherine didn’t recuperate his love and instead loved his brother,Stefan. The darkness that was created at the age of 12 by the severe abusive nature of his father, only created Damon to desire the idea of being a powerful being. He found the idea of being a vampire amusing.Once becoming a vampire, that human anger, disgust, hate, and desire to hurt others became overpowered. He was a monster. It only worsened when he tried to reconcile his relationship with his brother, which pushed him to turn off his humanity which threw Damon down deeper down the rabbit hole, humanity no where in sight, and embracing his villain era. Embracing the darkness he withheld himself from.
